Campus Safety Department Assistant – Looking for a summer job that will provide real industry experience? Join the Department of Environmental Health and Safety and contribute to promoting safe work conditions at UMass. This is an ideal position for someone interested in expanding their knowledge in the construction of buildings, underground utilities, and the implementation of safe work practices while engaged in those activities.

 

Duties include:

Accompany Campus Safety Services on compliance inspections of construction sites and shop spaces.

Identify and document safety deficiencies

Assisting with follow-up of observations from inspections.  

Review of Site Specific Safety Plans

Analyze injury data

Assist with developing new policies and review of existing policies

The ideal candidate will possess:

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel

Good writing skills

Ability to work day shift work hours. 

Must be able to climb ladders and walk for extended periods of time during inspections on sometimes uneven terrain.

OSHA 10-Hour Outreach Construction Industry Card preferred.  

 

Expected 20 hours/week at $14/hr throughout the summer and possible continuation into the school year. Interested parties should contact Rob Wallace directly.
