Project description: Assist in the implementation and data collection and management of the Timber Products Output Survey. The TPO survey is the Forest Service’s official survey of primary wood-using mills and a source of information on location, size and types of mills in a state, and the volume of roundwood received by product, species and geographic origin. This work will be part of a joint partnership between the University of Massachusetts Amherst and the USDA Forest Service Northern Research Station. The
research assistant will aid in data entry and management. If interested, they will also aid in data collection, which will be done via phone survey. The assistant will also contribute to the National Woodland Owner Survey project and a woodbank survey that is being implemented this summer.
